Most bands don’t make it to their fourth album.
Let alone without a label, management or the usual machinery needed to make records happen.
They were lectured that releasing 2019’s self-titled debut album without a label was a huge mistake. At every turn, the independent group were told to work with promoters to stand a chance of selling out a headline show. Believing in themselves, As December Falls refused to listen.
The band started with a common goal that endures to this day – to write some great songs and take it as far as they could. But it does feel like As December Falls vs the world.
Every step of the way, the fiercely independent band proved each one of those doubters wrong. The self-titled debut saw the band sell out 90% of their self-booked UK headline tour. As they went into 2020, they were more comfortable, more confident and more sure of themselves than ever.
The debut really set something in motion for the band and “It’s just snowballing now.” With their future very much in their own hands, 2021 gave them a chance to work out exactly what sort of band they wanted to be. They agreed, “Let’s make this thing as big as we can get it.” New album ‘Happier’ is another celebration of noisy rock & roll that sees the As December Falls ready to take the next step.
They’d always planned to do a second album this year but originally, recording was penciled in around a hectic touring schedule. When that fell away due to covid, the band put all their energies into ‘Happier’ and the result is something really special.
For the second record, they wanted something bigger so after looking at various label offers, As December Falls did what they do best. They did it themselves. Working alongside producer John Mitchell (You Me At Six, Enter Shikari, Architects) the band made something more cinematic, more dynamic and more emotional than what’s come before.
They’ve maintained that resilient DIY spirit: ‘Happier’ came out on their own label and they’ve kept full control of every aspect of the band.
Once again, they have decided to rely on their own strength for the release of their fourth album: “Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine” will be released on the 8th August 2025.
“We dedicated full days to writing, arranging and adding the craziest sounds we could until we had 14 tracks of perfectly crafted mayhem. We always knew we wanted to work with Alex again since the last album was an absolute pleasure but being able to recruit Sam Guaiana and Mike Kalajian into the fold was the cherry on top. The result is probably our most daring effort, exploring sounds way beyond the early pop punk days. From piano tracks to pop bangers to songs lifted straight from the Undercity in Arcane. There’s something in this record for everyone – fans that have been with us since day one and the new Fallers discovering us every day.
It feels like every record has been building to this point and we’re so excited for this new album to take the world by storm.”
